Fines Wines of Italy is a new company with a radically different approach to its business - which is to bring a broad and representative range of the best contemporary Italian wines to discerning British and Irish customers.

Choice and variety is essential. Quality over quantity, and quality regardless of price – and by that we do not mean all our wines are expensive, but all are of a fine quality, regardless of their price. Everyday drinking wines can and should be every bit as enjoyable in their context as the outstandingly well-made vintage wines we also supply for those more special occasions.

This principle underpins our approach to the multi-media, multi faceted web site we are developing. The essential element here is we reflect the totality of the enterprises we represent, and not just the wines. Wines are not an abstract commodity. When made with care and conviction they can be highly individualistic, even idiosyncratic. Our happy experience is that we have found that fine wines are made by fine and committed people, and we shall reflect them and their farms and vineyards in these pages, as much as we do their wines.

But ultimately, it will be their wines that speak for them – and us.

At the core of the business, we will concentrate on representing a carefully selected group of smaller, specialist and select single estate vineyards, which reflect the dedication and single minded commitment of their owners and their staff. Their wines will not be made in large quantities, which means that none of these wines will be available in the supermarkets and major off licence chains – that is not our business, indeed that is a very different part of the wine business.

We are developing personal relationships with the vineyards we represent, which is reflected in our vineyard profiles (see Producers). This relationship has already started to extend to providing advice to the growers to help them improve their vineyards and their crops – and, we are confident, that should mean even better and finer Italian wines.

We also reflect the totality of the vineyard enterprises, also focusing on the best villa rentals and vineyard holidays, the best Italian food and recipes, the best eating places and the best places to stay.

Personal contact with and commitment to our customers is essential, and we shall achieve this through a bright, streamlined website operation, with a lively and constantly changing content at its heart, and registered users will receive regular newsletters and promotions.

Fine Wines of Italy celebrates the resurgence in the breath and quality of wine production in Italy. In every region, there is a new pride in the distinctive wines now produced, which we will reflect in everything we offer. Italian wines can compete in every sector – from sparkling proseccos and spumantes which now challenge the best that champagne can offer, through a dazzling array of red and whites, both light and full bodied, and dry right through to a range of distinctive and characterful dessert wines.

For us, this is a great adventure that we want to share with those who have a similar enthusiasm, but may lack the time to commit to such a satisfying odyssey. We’ll do the hard work and you will enjoy the results of our endeavours.
